Metallica doom...

Ever wondered what Metallica would sound like as a doom band? Me neither but this is pretty heavy and Hetfield's vocals sound insane. This is the Ride The Lightning lp played at 33.5 rpm instead of 45. For Whom The Bell Tolls, Fade To Black and Creeping Death are worth the download. The heaviest Metallica has ever sounded.

RIDE THE DOOM

Eric Wareheim directed this music video...

For the Warp band 'Flying Lotus', which I'm prettty sure is just one dude. Lots of flashing lights and hardcore porno.... sort of...

it won't embed properly so watch it here

all i have to say is...

Pink Floyd - Live At Pompeii (1972)

This is a film featuring Floyd performing 6 songs at the ruins of the ancient ampitheater in Pompeii. Originally the film featured only the songs performed, but was then re-released with outtakes from the supposed recording sessions of Dark Side Of The Moon at Abbey Road Studios. I have the re-release that includes both the performances and the recording sessions if anyone ever wanted to see it. And below is an audio rip of the actual feature.

Echoes Part 1

Echoes Part 2

"Intro Song"
"Echoes, Part I" (from Meddle, 1971)
"On the Run" (Studio Footage) (from Dark Side of the Moon, 1973)
"Careful with That Axe, Eugene" (from Ummagumma, 1969)
"A Saucerful of Secrets" (from A Saucerful of Secrets, 1968)
"Us and Them" (Studio Footage) (from Dark Side of the Moon, 1973)
"One of These Days" (from Meddle, 1971)
"Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" (from A Saucerful of Secrets, 1968)
"Brain Damage" (Studio Footage) (from Dark Side of the Moon, 1973)
"Mademoiselle Nobs" (from Meddle, 1971 previously known as Seamus)
"Echoes, Part II" (from Meddle, 1971)

Lucy's Fur Coat - Jaundice (Relativity - 1994)

This is the first full length from this rock band out of San Diego. I picked up this record about 10 years ago after I heard a few songs featured on a surf video that I basically watched every day when I was 17. I've never heard anything else they released or had the pleasure of seeing them live. Kind of happy about that as the members all got involved in some really horrible projects after they broke up.

This album flat out rules though.

1. Treasure Hands
2. Falling Out
3. Super
4. Still I Complain
5. Easy
6. Sensor
7. Elementary
8. Same
9. Insanity
10. Not My Fault
11. Southern Cookin'

GLASGOW MEGA-SNAKE

Mogwai continues to amaze. The new album is a little more mellow than Mr. Beast was, but it's still up there as one of the best records of the year. Their live show absolutely pummels you with sound and they've been consistently doing this since the beginning.

Unfortunately they had to cancel their current US tour after some health problems sent their drummer to the hospital after the ATP festival in New York on Saturday. Luckily, a few of us got to see them the night before at the Starlight Ballroom. The setlist wasn't what I expected, but they played for over 90 minutes straight through, and the closer "Batcat" was the icing on the cake.

Here's the new album and a few others to grab. If you've never heard them you should change that. Mostly instrumental post rock from Scotland.
