Sunny Day Real Estate Reunion!
from that disaster of a website, Pitchfork:
"Seattle proto-emo heroes Sunny Day Real Estate have broken up twice, in 1995 and 2001. But they're back together again for a North American reunion tour, and this time, all four original members are on board.
After the band's 1995 breakup, bassist Nate Mendel and drummer William Goldsmith joined Dave Grohl's Foo Fighters. When Sunny Day got back together in 1997, Goldsmith rejoined, but Mendel remained a Foo. This time, though, Mendel is back in the fold.
In a statement from Sub Pop, Mendel said, "I wasn't around for the second version of the band that recorded the third and fourth albums, so I've always had a feeling of unfinished business there. We had all these outsized ideas back then, 'Everyone's going to learn a new instrument,' and 'Let's do a rock opera,' but before we could get anywhere with them, the band broke up. We left behind all these weird and beautiful songs, though, and they've stuck with me all this time. I'm really happy that we get a chance to play them together again."
The reunion tour kicks off September 17 in Vancouver, and yes, they will play California. To celebrate, on September 15, Sub Pop will reissue the band's two original-lineup albums: the stone classic 1994 debut Diary (one of the best-selling albums in Sub Pop history) and the 1995 follow-up LP2 (better known as The Pink Album). The reissues will include bonus tracks and new liner notes. This is going to rule."

Eagles 34 New England 31
FoxSports Predicts Philadelphia Over New England in the superbowl this upcoming season.

God I hope so. There is a lot of hype over philly's offseason moves such as the addition of offensive tackle Jason Peters from the Bills, and another offensive tackle Stacy Andrews from the Bengals to sure up the O-line. BTW at this point big John Runyan is not yet signed. McNabb got his extrension, Westbrook recently had surgery to repair a nagging right ankle, and even Reid swore off cheesesteaks ;o)
I still have one question though, how in the world is Dan Klecko the second highest paid guy on the team?

Summer Albums
I'm going to be posting a bunch of albums over the next couple months that I think are essential for this time of year. Some of them I only listen to when it's warm out, others I listen to all the time but they may remind of summer or have that 'summer feel'. Kind of stupid? Yes, yes it is. But some of these records are great no matter what time of year it is and I hope that you check them out.
Summer Album #1:
This was their third album and certainly the one that got the most publicity and radio play. It had a couple "hits" and also has Dave Grohl on the drums.
Get in the car, roll down the windows and crank the volume.

I'm seeing Isis tomorrow night...
probably for the last time. I've seen this band a countless amount of times and it's always been good, but nothing will ever top the first time i saw them play, which was at a church in Levittown about ten years ago. They played songs off of Mosquito Control and The Red Sea and I think even some tunes that ended up on Celestial. To this day it's one of the loudest live sets I've ever witnessed.
I guess if they are breaking up there's a small chance that a new Old Man Gloom record could surface... but I'm not going to hold my breath.
The setlist on this tour has basically been the new album along with 'Dulcinea', 'In Fiction' and 'Carry'. And the encore has either been 'The Beginning And The End' or the 17 minute version of 'Celestial'. I hope to god it's the latter.
Here is some of the early stuff.
